Negative Effects of Water & Contamination
- Water in oil promotes its degradation and accelerates its aging
- Water in a hydraulic system will increase cavitation and foaming as well as reduce lubrication, resulting in costly component wear, maintenance and failure
- Water is present as a result of ambient humidity, splash water and water ingested past hydraulic seals on cylinders
- Water is also present in all new oil
